According to
UKRINFORM, Ukraine will also exhibit its new BTR-4 wheeled
armored personnel carriers.
The
general designer on the creation of armored vehicles and
artillery systems, Lt. Gen. Mykhailo Borysiuk, said that
Oplot tanks and BTR-4 armored personnel carriers were
"modern vehicles that are competitive on the world
market and are in demand among foreign customers."
He noted that the Oplot had been added to the arsenal
of the Ukrainian army in 2009 and that its mass production
had started at Malyshev Plant in Kharkiv.
According to Ukrainian mass media, Azerbaijan is interested
in purchasing Oplot tank and the Defense Ministry of Ukraine
has long been holding negotiations on this issue.
The Defense Ministry ordered the first batch of ten tanks.
The price of the contract, which was concluded in 2009,
is UAH 295 million (UAH 7.96 / USD 1).
In 2009, Ukraine
signed a contract with Iraq on the supply of 420 BTR-4
wheeled armored personnel carriers until March 2012. Malyshev
Plant is a co-executor of the contract.
