IDET, International Fair of Defence and Security Technology, is one of the biggest shows of defence technology in Central and Eastern Europe. Exhibitors from ca. 30 countries present their products to international military delegations and professionals from all over the world. In 2005 IDET was the largest trade show in this field in Europe and since 1997 it has been number one in Europe in odd years. Part of each run is a varied accompanying programme in which defence technology experts discuss topical issues. Its focal point is the traditional international conference CATE. PYROS/ISET, International Fair for Fire Fighting Equipment and Security Technology, is held concurrently with IDET under the common title of Integrated Rescue System Fairs.

IDET as a biennial exhibition alternates with Europe's largest exhibition in this field,Eurosatory Paris, and maintains a long-term position as the largest show of defence and security technologies in the area of new NATO member states. Last year’s edition was attended by 369 companies from 26 countries on three continents. The whole set of Integrated Rescue System Fairs presented 548 companies from 27 countries. The interest of visitors was also record-breaking – the fairs were viewed by 30 935 registered professionals. There was a traditionally high interest of foreign partners. Visitors came from thirty-four countries. At the invitation of the Minister of Defence, the fair was visited by 21 official military delegations from 19 countries and military and air force attachés from another 23 countries. Other VIP guests attended the expert supporting programme. The most significant event was the CATE International Conference (Community-Army-Technology-Environment), which was attended by nearly 1000 participants from Europe, but also from overseas.

Last edition was held jointly with the International Fair of Fire and Security Technology and Services PYROS / ISET under the title Integrated Rescue System Fairs and the concept is working well. "We have responded to current trends of integration and deepening cooperation of defence and security structures on time, and the interest in participating in last year’s fair confirmed that we were moving in the right direction," said Director of IDET and PYROS/ISET Jirí Rousek. In 2013, the fairs will take place at the same time again, with a new common name: IDET / PYROS / ISET - Defence and Security Fairs.
