The
M1123 cargo/troop carrier vehicle is based on the chassis of the standard
Humvee. The vehicle is designed and manufactured by the American Defence
Company AM General. The M1123 HMMWV variant replaced the M998 and M1038
variant HMMWVs. The M1123 provides light troop and cargo transportation.
Available in two and four person configurations, this model can accept
installation of troop seats and other modifications. This variant can
be used as the vehicle platform for mobile communication systems as
well as other mobile alternate command posts. The M1123 heavy variant
cargo carrier is capable of transporting a payload (including crew)
of 1,998 kg. The M1123 is in service in the U.S. army since the 28 April
1985. |

and protection |
| Marine
Armor Kit (MAK) can be installed on M1123, in either two or
four door configurations. The M1123 used a troop seat kit for
troop transport operations, a 200 ampere umbilical power cable
to power shelter equipment, and stowage racks for ammunition
and equipment. For higher payload capacity, the M1123s were
equipped with a reinforced frame, crossmembers, lifting shackles,
heavy-duty rear springs, shock absorbers, reinforced control
arms, heavy-duty tires and rims, and a transfer case and differential
with a modified gear ratio. The M1123 models, like the M1097A2
and other A2 HMMWV models, had new bumpers, along with the other
A2 improvements, which made the vehicles slightly longer. |
| Mobility |
The
chassis, mechanical components and general performance are the
same as other models of the standard Humvee M998 series.The
M1035A2 is motorized with a V-8, 6.5L Diesel Fuel Injection
engine coupled to an 4-speed automatic transmission with a maximum
input torque rating of 451 lb.-ft. (612 N m). The M1123 Humvee
uses independent suspensions and portal geared hubs similar
to portal axles to make for a full 46cm of ground clearance.
The vehicle also has disc brakes on all 4 wheels, and 4-wheel
double-wishbone suspension.

| Accessories |
| The
M1123 vehicle may cross a water depth up to 0.76m without preparation
and 1.5 m with a deep water fording kit. In option the M1123
Humvee can be equipped with a 4,100 kg winch.
