Libya has taken delivery of 49 NIMR armoured support vehicles from Jordan. Some 120 of the UAE-designed and built NIMRs, in two variants, have already been in service with the Libyan army, reports Libya Herald.
Currently 120 NIMR 4x4 light tactical armoured vehicles are in service with the Libyan army.
The spokesman for the Libyan
General Staff. Ali Shiekhi was quoted by Chinese news agency Xinhua
today as saying that the new NIMRs had been supplied as a result of
an agreement made last year, between the Ministry of Defence and Jordan.
The new armoured vehicles are to be deployed immediately on border patrol
According to Mr Al Mazroui
the vehicles have a flexibility of use and can work in different environments
to the ones present in the UAE. "Over the next 18 months we will
be presenting the vehicles in Brazil, Turkey, all the GCC countries
and the Middle East to present the vehicles' performance on their own
terrain," he said.
