Possibility of military cooperation between Russia and Norway.
 
 
The chief of general Staff of the Russian armed forces, the general Nikolaï Makarov, arrives to Norway for a work visit intended to evoke the prospects for the military cooperation, announced the press service of the Russian ministry of Defense this Tuesday February 15, 2011.

According to the service, the general will discuss with the Norwegian minister of defense Grete Faremo, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, the general Harald Sunde and the chief of the Norwegian diplomacy Jonas Gahr Støre.

“A large range of problems of shared interest will be approached during the talks. The discussions will relate in particular to the state and the prospects for the military cooperation between the two countries, the evolution of the political and military situation in the Artic region, the coordination of the efforts aiming at ensuring the safety in Northern Europe, as well as the improvement of the co-operation within the framework of the Council Russia-NATO”, text from the official statement.

The visit of the Russian chief of general Staff will end on February 16th.
