Colombian army presents Pegaso 4x4 APC armoured at ExpoDefensa 2017


Textron M1117 Commando 4x4 armoured vehicle in service with the Colombian army under the name of "Pegaso". According the SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) arms trade database, 28 M1117 4x4 armoured vehicles were delivered to Colombia in 2013/2014 and a second batch of 60 vehicles was delivered in 2016, including command post version.

According to Colombian army officer, two versions of the American-made Textron 4x4 armoured vehicles are in service with the Colombian army, the Commando Select and the Commando Advanced.

At ExpoDefensa 2017, one model of the Commando Advanced was displayed on the booth of the Colombian army. The COMMANDO Advanced vehicles is derived from the Textron Armored Security Vehicles (ASV), a combat proven armoured which is also in service in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Pegaso offers a protection against firing of small arms and artillery shell splinters. Crew protection is reinforced with a V-shaped hull bottom and 360-degree protection from direct fire.

The Pegaso is fitted with a one man turret armed with 12.7mm heavy machine gun and 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The vehicle can accommodate a total of 7 military personnel including driver and commander in the front, gunner in the turret and 4 infantrymen.
