The Defence Company BAE Systems presents at Eurosatory 2018, the Land and Airland Defence & Security exhibition in Paris (France), its CV90 MkIV, a new generation of tracked IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) based on the family of CV90 offering more mobility, fire power and protection.

The combination of the CV90’s firepower, mobility, and protection forms this Infantry Fighting Vehicle’s set of core capabilities. A combat-proven, mature solution, the CV90s evolutionary design ensures that the newest generation of CV90 MkIV vehicles is one of the most modern Infantry Fighting Vehicles available for future growth with an adaptable design that supports continuous technology upgrades and other improvements.
The CV90 MkIV was born out of a research and development programme which incorporated feedback from the seven nations that currently use the CV90 platform. With upgrades to the drivetrain, the CV90 MkIV now has a new engine with up to 1,000 horsepower and a more powerful X300 heavy-duty transmission, while providing users with an additional two tonnes of payload without compromising the vehicle’s agility.
Equipped with the latest, fourth generation Electronic Architecture built to a common NATO standard, this allows the more efficient fusion of sensor data while positioning the vehicle to support future technology growth and capabilities like Augmented Reality, machine-learning concepts, Artificial Intelligence and autonomous crew support.
The latest CV90 also offerts a host of new capabilities including a new all digital turret, which can be configured to meet all key customer needs, and BAE Systems’ solution for the future battlefield known as iFighting®. The MkIV generation will also be the first Western IFV with a qualified Active Protection System.
The new CV90 MkIV showed at Eurosatory 2018 is fitted with a two-man turret armed an automatic cannon from 35 to 500mm, one 7.62mm coaxial machine, one 40mm automatic grenade launcher and two anti-tank guided missile launchers mounted on the right side of the turret. The rear part of the CV90 MkIV can accomodate 8 infantrymen who can leave an enter the vehicle through a large hydraulically operated ramp located at the rear of the hull.
The CV90s have been deployed by national forces, the UN and NATO in missions across the globe, from Afghanistan to Liberia. There are more than 1,280 CV90 vehicles in 15 variants operated by seven nations, including four NATO countries. With an investment of more than 4.5 million engineering hours to date, BAE Systems remains committed to further advancing future generations of the CV90.
