IR&D's Micro 2 - a lot for such a small package

Micro 2 is an ultraportable thermal imaging monocular ideal for surveillance duties, able to be mounted to a helmet or used in the hand. While the size of the device is what draws the crowds, it’s the features that keep them there. The Micro 2 offers the function of 640x480 photo capture on it’s internal 512Mb memory. It has a switch on time of less than 2 seconds and a battery life of 2hrs from 1x CR123A or 1x 16340 battery.

The zoom function is a x2, x4, x8 continuous zoom, and at less than 120g, makes it more versatile than many of its competitors. The lens is a 35mm f/1.5 and can operate from -40°C to +65°C. There is a built in 3-axis gyro sensor and G meter, it can indicate azimuth, elevation angle and also has a built in electronic compass. To assist with battery life the sensor display turns off and the device switches to power saving mode when the eye is removed from the eyepiece.
