The Armed Forces of Egyptian army is composed by around 350,000 personnel, including 252,000 conscripts and a reserve force of 320,000 soldiers. There is also a Para-military forces with 300,000 personnel of National Guard, Security Forces, Frontier Corp and Coast Guard. The conscription is 36 months.
The Land force of the Egyptian Army is composed with 300,000 soldiers, including some 240,000 conscripts with the structure:
- 2 field Army HQ's
- 3 Military zones
- 4 armoured divisions, with 2 tanks brigade, 1 mechanised brigade, 1 artillery brigade and 1 air defense brigade
- 7 mechanised infantry divisions with 2 mechanised infantry brigades, 1 tanks brigade, 1 artillery brigade and 1 air defense brigade
- 1 infantry division with 3 infantry brigades, 1 artillery brigade and 1 air defense brigade
- 4 independent mechanised brigades
- 3 independent infantry brigades
- 3 airborne brigades with 1 parachute brigade and 2 airmobile brigades
- 14 artillery brigades, each with 3 artillery battalions
- 1 heavy mortar company and 1 air defense company
- 2 SSM brigades with SCUD's missile
- 9 commando groups
