Defense & Security Thailand 2019: Special Trucks Service Center displays Mercedes Unimog U4000 and Arocs 4058 tank transporter

Thai company Special Trucks Service Center is the only exhibitor displaying a tank transport truck at Defense & Security Thailand 2019. Hence its high visibility. This Mercedes-Benz 6x6 semi-trailer tractor and the Unimog U4000 benefit from the ever highly-considered reputation of the silver-star German brand.

Chakrit Netsavang, CEO of Special Trucks Service Center, told Army Recognition and its Defense Web TV that the 6x6 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4058 is the heaviest transport truck existing in Thailand. It’s adapted to the transportation of the Royal Thai Army’s heavy engineer vehicles and main battle tanks: U.S.-made M60, Ukrainian-made Oplot, and Chinese-made VT4. The tractor truck is equipped with a 6-cylinder Euro 3 engine developing 578hp (425 kw/2,800 Nm).

With earlier models, Unimog has a long story with the Royal Thai Armed Forces, as well as with other South-Asian armies. The U4000 in its present upgraded version should attract several customers among the regional armies and security forces. Indeed, its technical sophistication makes it an unrivaled tactical truck ideally suitable for harsh environments as faced in the region. Its maneuverability in muddy and mountainous terrain remains legendary.
