Russian Army to get over 300 BTR-82A and BTR-82AM APCs in 2021


BTR-82A and BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers (APCs) with better running and combat capabilities will be delivered to Army units in 2021, the Defense Ministry’s press office said : “Under the state defense procurement program, the manufacturers will hand over more than 300 military hardware items to the Defense Ministry”.

By the end of 2021, Russian Army units will receive more than 800 armored vehicles, including over 90 T-72B3 and T-72B3M tanks, about 80 T-80BVM tanks with a gas-turbine engine, and a batch of T-90M Proryv tanks.

Besides, more than 120 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and over 280 upgraded BMP-2 IFVs with the Berezhok combat module will be delivered to units.

In 2020, the Army got more than 3,500 items of advanced and upgraded military hardware, including 220 tanks and other armored vehicles. In 2020, Army units were planned to receive more than 460 BTR-82A and BTR-82AM APCs under the state defense procurement program.
