In a recent report of the People's Army Online forwarded by Defence Studies, viewers discovered the unexpected appearance of a new self-propelled artillery system integrated by Vietnam. Previously, in 2019, a reporter of the QPVN television channel filming at the Z751 factory came across this unique artillery system. This was the first time people heard and saw about it.

The PTH85-VN18 self-propelled artillery system (85mm self-propelled gun - Vietnam) is the official name of this new type of self-propelled gun. The system uses the chassis of an Ural-43206 6x6 truck fitted with an 85mm caliber D-44 anti-tank gun. This was a division-level artillery gun produced by the Soviet Union in the 1940s and still in use nowadays by some armies.

The combination weighs 14,150kg, can climb slopes of 50 degrees, and cross a 0.70 meter-deep ford. The time to switch from march to ready-to-fire position is 5 minutes. The body is fitted with two deployable jacks on the side to stabilize the vehicle, and shell racks at the rear.
