French Defense Minister announces creation of Digital Defense Agency

The health, geopolitical and security context which marks the entry of the Ministry of Defense into the third year of its digital transformation shows more than ever the need to strengthen its digital mastery both for the operational efficiency of the forces and for the functioning. administration, business continuity and the day-to-day working environment of agents.

Initiated in 2018, the digital modernization project of the Ministry of the Armed Forces has taken a new major step in this context with the creation of the Digital Defense Agency. Bringing together and pooling existing capacities in terms of conducting digital projects, this agency embodies the desire of the Minister of the Armed Forces to thoroughly review the organization of ministerial digital technology to face the many challenges associated with its transformation.

When it is set up in early 2021, the AND will become the new internal benchmark in digital project management, ensuring the control and dissemination of best practices. It will be responsible for leading complex or high-stakes projects for the entire ministry, as close as possible to the business lines. It will also play an advisory role and ensure the technical consistency and optimization of the resources of the projects entrusted to it, by providing a framework of method and support.

Attached to the Delegate General for Armaments (DGA), this new organization will be headed by an orientation and management board involving all of its internal clients: the staffs, departments and services of the Ministry of the Armed Forces.

Orchestrated by the DGNUM (DG Numérique), digital coordinator and the Ministry's information and communication systems, the renewed ecosystem in which the Defense Digital Agency takes its place will be based on three watchwords: simplicity, speed, efficiency.
