The Peshmerga militia fighting Islamic State are to receive 4,000 G36 assault rifles and 6 million rounds of ammunition. Several German shipments will also include 200 Milan anti-tank missiles and 6 Dingo 1 armored personnel carriers, as well as spare parts to Kurdish-operated Dingos already in use, according to Der Spiegel.

The German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said that the number of advisors will be increased to 150 and that they will expand the training courses for the Peshmerga.

The G36 is a 5.56×45mm assault rifle, designed in the early 1990s by the German Defense Company Heckler & Koch (H&K). It was accepted into service with the German army in 1995, replacing the old G3 assault rifle.

MILAN (French: Missile d´infanterie léger antichar; English: Light anti-tank infantry missile) is a European-made anti-tank guided missile. It is a wire guided SACLOS (semi-automatic command to line-of-sight) missile, which means the sight of the launch unit has to be aimed at the target to guide the missile. The MILAN can be equipped with a MIRA thermal sight, or MILIS to give it night-firing ability.

The Dingo is 4x4 armoured vehicle designed and manufactured by the German Company KMW (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann). The vehicle was introduced to the Bundeswehr (German Army) in the year 2000 in order to close the gap between light unarmored transport vehicles and the lightly armored tanks.

The Dingo 1 is based on a proven Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG (4 × 4) chassis. The vehicle can be fitted with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun fiited on a circular ring or integrated to a remote weapon station that can be aimed and fired under complete armour protection.

The crew compartment armour of Dingo 1 provides protection against firing of small arms, anti-tank and anti-personnel mines blasy, artillery fragments from 155 mm shells and NBC threats.
