| Description |
| The
AR3 is a new MRLS Multiple rocket launcher system
presented for the first time during the International
Defence Exhibition IDEX 2011. The AR3 370mm Multiple
Launcher Rocket System (MLRS) is a long range suppressing
weapon system developed and manufactured by NORINCO.
The weapon system adopts an integralized platform,
container-launcher box, and integrated missile launch
control system etc. advanced technology, capable
of launching guided rockets of calibre 370 mm and
maximum range over 220 km and simplified control
rockets and guided rockets of calibre 300 mm and
maximum range over 130 km. It is characterized by
long range, wide fire coverage, combination of pinpoint
attack and area fire, rapid launch and maneuver,
and convenient to be used in the field, etc.

| Armament |
The
AR3 is equipped at the rear of the chassis
with two pods each of four 370 mm rockets.
These are reloaded as two complete box-shaped
pods. Rockets are factory-fitted inside
these pods. The AR3 370 mm can fire both
370 mm and 300 mm rockets by using launching-transporting
container system. In 300 mm configuration,
the rear of the chassis is equipped with
two range of five 300 mm rockets launcher.
The AR3 can use various types of ammunition,
as BRC3, BRC4 (cargo rocket), BRE 2 (HE
rocket), BRE3 and BRE6 (guided rocket).
With guided rockets and simple controlled
rockets, the AR3 MRLS features long range,
high firing accuracy, great battlefield
coverage, mass and violent firepower, high
lethality ammunition, as well as highly
automatic operation, short fire reaction
time, high mobility and high survivability. |

| The
NORINCO AR3 multiple rocket launcher system
has a four door fully enclosed air conditioned
cab at the front with an additional fully
enclosed crew cab to the immediate rear
with the system normally being operated
by a crew of four. |
| Propulsion |
Launcher
vehicle of this multiple launch rocket system
is based on a 8x8 heavy high mobility truck
chassis. The chassis is the same as for
the AR1A. |
| Combat
use |
| The
AR3 370 mm / 300 mm MLRS can execute fire
missions normally by battalion or battery
as its basic firing unit, yet it can also
execute fire mission autonomously by single
launcher. With advanced meteorological survey
system, command & control system and
support system, effective fire assault and
neutralization of various ground targets
can be implemented.
