Taking advantage of its long-standing firearms expertise. FN Herstal designed and developed a complete family of remote weapon stations called deFNder.

The deFNder Remote Weapon Stations provide optimized remote firing capability while keeping the operator completely under armor protection In order to meet today's operational requirements.

The deFNder Light Is the light weight remote weapon station of FN RWS family. It can integrate all FN machine guns up to 7.62mm caliber and is capable of extreme elevation and depression angles of operation.

The deFNder has a traverse of 360° with elevation angle from +80° to -60°. This wide elevation angle is particularly useful in urban warfare when the weapon operator has to engage targets located at the top of high buildings, and during peacekeeping operations where the deFNder® Light shows non-aggressive profile.

The deFNder® Light fitted with a FN MINIM® 7.62 machine gun fully loaded weighs less than 85 kg and does not exceed 520mm in height in basic configuration. The weapon can be removed in less than 15 seconds for use as a dismounted weapon.
