The vehicles initially will be deployed in support of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.

The Bulgarian National Military Forces currently has seven COMMANDO vehicles in service. Delivered in 2008, these vehicles have been in continuous operation with the ISAF in Afghanistan. Textron Systems also is under contract to provide the Bulgarian Army with technical support in Afghanistan and quarterly training in Bulgaria.

COMMANDO™ Select armored vehicles build upon the success of earlier platforms like our COMMANDO Advanced/Armored Security Vehicle, battle-proven over more than 12 years in locations including Iraq, Colombia and Afghanistan.

COMMANDO Select vehicles provide an extended crew compartment, additional ground clearance and Enhanced Survivability features, including superior IED, mine-blast and direct-fire protection. The COMMANDO family incorporates a monocoque V-shaped hull of welded armored steel with exterior mounted modular expandable ceramic armor appliqué and a bonded composite inner spall liner for maximum survivability and exceptional crew protection.

"We're pleased to be delivering an expanded armored vehicle capability to the Bulgarian military," said Tom Walmsley, Marine & Land Systems senior vice president and general manager. "Our customer values both the level of performance and protection offered by these vehicles, as well as the support and training services our team can provide throughout each vehicle's life cycle."

Rigorously tested and proven in the toughest environments, the COMMANDO family of vehicles -including the COMMANDO Elite, COMMANDO Select and COMMANDO Utility series, offers a range of protection options, unmatched on-road/off-road mobility and ample firepower. More than 630 COMMANDO Select vehicles have been delivered to the Afghan National Army in the last three years, with many of these vehicles actively engaged in security operations in strategic locations across the country.
