Brazil is currently replacing its fleet of armored and tactical vehicles. The largest program is the Guarani program to replace 6x6 and 8x8 wheeled armored vehicles. Brazil is also conducting a major overhaul of its M113 tracked APCs. In addition, Brazil intends to acquire new-build Iveco LMVs, which will be produced by Iveco's subsidiary in Brazil.

The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4x4 tactical vehicle developed by Iveco, and in service with several countries. The Light Multipurpose Vehicle (LMV) was originally developed by the IVECO Defence Vehicles as a private venture with the first of 10 prototypes being completed in 2001. Within IVECO the LMV has the company designation of the M 65E19 WM 4 × 4.To reduce overall life-cycle costs, proven off-the-shelf subsystems were used in the design of the LMV wherever possible, for example engine and transmission. According to IVECO, the LMV has been designed to meet the stringent demands of military operations at the same time as providing a high level of ride and crew comfort.
