Afghan Army and Police conduct security operations in Southern Kandahar province.
Afghan security forces conducted tactical operations across Southern Kandahar province with emphasis in Panjwa’i, intent on disrupting insurgent build-up in the area and to validate Afghan security forces’ ability to conduct complex ISAF-independent operations. Afghan security forces conducted tactical operations across Southern Kandahar province with emphasis in Panjwa’i, intent on disrupting insurgent build-up in the area and to validate Afghan security forces’ ability to conduct complex ISAF-independent operations.
Soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 205th Afghan National Army, load an MI-17 helicopter from the Kandahar Air Wing prior to conducting an air insertion into the village of Molla Dust in the Panjwa’i district of Southern Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Afghan National Security forces from the 1/205th and Panjwa’i Police conducted operations, April 1, 2012, to disrupt insurgent activity.
     

More than 3,400 Afghan security forces conducted the operation with elements from the 1st Brigade, 205th Afghan National Army; Kandahar Air Wing; The Afghan National Police from Dand, Daman, and Panjwa'i; Afghan National Civil Order Police; and National Defense Services.

Afghan forces conducted an air insertion into the village of Mulla Dust in Southern Panjwa'i;Clearing operations in Western Panjwa'i near the village of Mushan; and operations in Eastern Panjwa'i near village of Sperwan.

During patrol operations near the village of Sperwan, Afghan Brig. Gen. Ahmed Habibi, commander of the 1/205th, took the opportunity to meet with local residents in and discuss the success of security operations in Panjwa’i.

Today’s operations resulted in the discovery and clearing of two improvised explosives in western Panjwa’i. No casualties were reported during the operations.

Today's operations were planned, coordinated and executed by Afghan security forces with ISAF members of Task Force Arctic Wolves as advisers.
