Pyongyang’s January nuclear test and February’s long-range rocket launch have been the latest signs of risk for South Korean’s and many other countries. An EMP attack can occur when nuclear or non-nuclear weapons explode above the ground creating a burst of high-power electromagnetic energy capable of destructing power grids and electronic devices.

According to the North Korean Yonhap News Agency, the agreement was signed between the National Radio Research Agency and the Army Engineer School. Both sides will share their EMP test equipment; they will jointly develop preventive technologies and will exchange subject matter experts.
