Russia to set up design bureau to develop communications, electronic warfare systems
The United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation is setting up a design bureau in Tambov in central Russia to develop communications equipment and modern electronic warfare systems, the corporation’s press office told TASS on Monday April, 4. The United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation is a subsidiary of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec.

"The design bureau will specialize in upgrading and developing communications and modern electronic warfare systems, command and staff vehicles, life support and electric power supply systems," the press office said.

"Its personnel will comprise designers of four defense enterprises in Tambov," the press office added.
According to the press office, the new design bureau will comprise the Oktyabr, Revtrud, Tambovapparat Enterprises and Efir Radio Equipment Research Center.

"These enterprises are the producers of combined radio stations and command and staff vehicles on the basis of armored personnel carriers and all-terrain chassis, including the R-145BM Chaika and the R-166 Artek, as well as the Borisoglebsk-2 and Infauna electronic warfare systems," the press office said.

The design bureau is expected to launch pilot production that will incorporate cutting-edge engineering solutions.

The design bureau will also upgrade communications systems in service with Russia’s Armed Forces.
