Russian Southern MD Special Task Force units received another batch of Kamaz 63968 Typhoons
According to the rearming plan of the Southern Military District, another 30 Typhoons armored vehicles were set into service of the Special Task Force units located in Rostov region. Typhoon is a unique armored vehicle which is capable to protect personnel after explosion of device up to 8 kg of TNT under the vehicle. The vehicle is designed composite body armor (ceramic and steel) in order to provide protection against armor-piercing incendiary rounds.

There are variants of Typhoons: Kamaz-63968 Typhoon-K and Ural-63095 Typhoon-U. They are equipped with hydropneumatic independent suspension, automatic gearbox, 450 hp engine. Max road speed is 80 km/h. Crew: 3+16.

Remotely controlled machine gun can be mounted on the vehicle. Fire control is provided by a serviceman using cameras. 5 cameras are mounted on the vehicle in order to provide all-round view to the crew and driver if the wind screen was damaged.

Special Task Force servicemen are practicing operating the vehicles in the course of field exercises. The Exercises consist of technical training, complex driving range training, high-speed maneuvering, and route passing in columns at maximum and minimum speed.
