Earlier this week, Brigadier General Pourdastan underlined that Tehran is facing no problem in building and supplying the weapons needs of its Armed Forces.

The Moharram is a 6-barrel 12.7mm caliber Gatling-type machine gun which can be mounted on pickup trucks, tanks, armored personnel carriers, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, warships and frigates to strike aerial, sea and ground targets.

The Iranian country's experts have built a weapon for ground units named 'Moharram' with the fire power of 2,000 rounds per minute, adding that that only a handful number of states are equipped with that type of weapon.

The Moharram has a maximum range of fire from 1,600 to 2,000 meters.

Each of the cannon's six barrels fires once in turn during each revolution of the barrel cluster. The multiple barrels provide both a very high rate of fire of 100 rounds per second and contribute to prolonged weapon life by minimizing barrel erosion and heat generation.
